The Village would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Village of Third Lake. Third Lake is a quiet residential community with commercial businesses along the Route 45 corridor. Sunshine Subdivision was platted in the late 1920’s. The Village was incorporated in 1959. Mariner’s Cove Subdivision was developed in the 1980’s. Third Lake has two lakes, Druce Lake and Third Lake. Both lakes are used for fishing, boating, swimming and skating. There are a number of public golf courses nearby. Centrally located in Lake County, residents have easy access to Great America Amusement Park, Gurnee Mills Shopping Center and all Lake County Forest Preserve locations.
VILLAGE BOARD MEETINGS
Village Board meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the Village Hall beginning at 7:00 p.m.Village Committee as a Whole meetings are held on the first Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
POLICE AND FIRE PROTECTION
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department provides our Village with police protection. Emergency service (911) is incorporated.The Grayslake Fire Protection District provides both fire and emergency ambulance service.

All Village Businesses, Sunshine Subdivision and Mariner’s Cove Subdivision use 60030 zip code.
Building permits are required for any new construction, or alterations including fencing, decks, swimming pools, heating & air conditioning units, remodeling, etc. Consult with the Village Hall before making any interior or exterior changes to your property. Permit fees are payable by cash or check only.
BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION
Residents who wish to use the lakes in the Village are required by ordinance to purchase a boat sticker. Boat stickers are due on April 1 of each year. Cost is determined by horsepower of the motor. Gas motors are not allowed on Druce Lake. Along with boat stickers, keys for the boat launch are available. Village vehicle stickers are available as a courtesy to residents. There is no charge for these Village stickers.
Local businesses within the Village of Third Lake are centered around the Route 45 and Washington Street.
Parking is not allowed on any Village street between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. or during snowplowing season. Should you have overnight guests, or if your vehicle is disabled on a Village street, please notify the Village Hall.
Dogs and cats are not allowed to run at large through the Village. When off the premises of the owner the animal must be leashed and under control. An animal found at large in any street of the village can be impounded by Lake County Animal Control. An official Lake County rabies tag shall be worn by the animal at all times.
