Yellow Flag – Druce Lake

Blue green algae has been spotted in Druce Lake. While the level of toxins is not known at the time, it is always better to use caution when participating in water activities. Not all algae is toxic and levels will not be known until testing is completed by the state labs.

The Lake County Health Department conducted a plant tour for residents this past Thursday. She explained that many lakes are experiencing algae blooms at this time. Warmer temperatures are a contributing factor so algae blooms are common at this time of the summer. Children and pets are most vulnerable because they ingest water. Blooms can appear and disappear quickly so the motto for the LCHD is “When In Doubt, Stay Out”.
