Animal Control
Dogs and cats are not allowed to run at large through the Village. When off the premises of the owner, the animal must be leashed and under control. An animal found at large in any street of the Village can be impounded by Lake County Animal Control. An official Lake County rabies tag shall be worn by the animal at all times.
Boating Information
Residents who wish to use the lakes in the Village are required by ordinance to purchase a sticker for each boat/watercraft they own. Boat stickers are available at the Village Hall & cost is determined by horsepower of the motor. Gas motors are not allowed on Druce Lake. Please click here for the Watercraft Registration Form.
Leaf Burning
Dry leaves, brush, branches under 1.5” diameter, and yard waste may be burned between November 1st and November 30th during the hours of 9AM and 3PM only.
- Burning is only allowed in a fireproof barrel or other receptacle that is elevated above ground by at least 6” but no more than 24”.
- Burning is not permitted when wind is in excess of 15 mph, within 20’ of any building or structure, within 25’ of any wetland, lake or other body of water or Lake County Forest Preserve property, or on Village streets, sidewalks or other public right of way.
- Fire must be attended at all times by a person 16 years of age or older.
- Must have a water source and adequate means of delivering water immediately adjacent to the fire.

On-Street Parking
Parking is not allowed on any Village street between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. or during snowplowing season. Should you need to park on the street overnight, have overnight guests, or if your vehicle is disabled on a Village street, please notify the Village Hall by clicking here.

Police & Fire Protection
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department provides our Village with police protection. Emergency service (911) is incorporated. The Grayslake Fire Protection District provides both fire and emergency ambulance service for residents. The Gurnee Fire Protection District provides fire and ambulance service for businesses.

Vehicles
Village vehicle stickers are not required but are available as a courtesy to residents. There is no charge for these stickers & they can be picked up at the Village Hall.
All non-highway vehicles (NHV), such as golf carts, require a sticker & must pass an inspection. The cost for this is $20. Please click here for the NHV Permit Application Form & Waiver.

All businesses are required to obtain a business license in order to operate within the CB or GB zoning districts in the Village. The application for a business license can be found here or by contacting the Village Hall.
Yard Waste
Illinois law requires that landscape waste, consisting of leaves, grass clippings, and wood materials, be excluded from trash (landfill) disposal. Landscape pick-up begins in April and runs through the end of November. Landscape waste must be contained in paper yard waste bags with a yard waste sticker attached to each bag. You can purchase stickers at the Village Hall for $1.25 each.
